Hi all, I have the most amazing news: I am pleased to announce that Loch Insch Fishery will reopen on the 1st of May.
And what is also amazing is that Granite City Flies will be available for purchase on opening day and, hopefully, for years to come. I will be tying boxes of flies to be delivered personally before the opening day on the 1st of May. So I am currently straining my brain to figure out which flies I will have tied and available from the Hut at Loch Insch Fishery on their opening day.

A new chapter begins at Loch Insch Fishery. Phil and Claire Meadows have taken on the lease of Loch Insch Fishery in Aberdeenshire, with the fishery officially opening for the 2026 season on 1st May.

Some maintenance work is underway.
The couple are inviting local anglers and the wider community to a pre-opening BBQ on Sunday, 26th April from 12 noon, offering the chance to meet them, enjoy a brew and hear about their plans for the loch. Visitors are welcome to drop in for a chat before opening, Thursday to Sunday. From 1st May, Loch Insch will be open Monday through Sunday.

Nice sunset over Loch Insch Trout Fishery.
The loch will be freshly stocked ahead of opening day, with ongoing demand assessment throughout the season in partnership with their supplier at Kelloch. The bait pond is currently being restocked for family fun, with loan rods available from the Bothy. The Bothy is undergoing a full refurbishment and will offer refreshments, cosy seating and a log-burning fire, creating a warm and welcoming space for anglers and visitors alike.
