INTRODUCING THE JIM MAIR CUP ![]()
We are delighted to announce the launch of The Jim Mair Cup, a new fishing competition held in honour of Jim Mair, who built Loch Insch Fishery in the 1990s.
Jim’s vision created the fishery we are proud to be bringing back to life, and it feels only right to celebrate his legacy with a competition in his name.
Sunday 21st June 2026
09:00 – 17:00
Fishing on Loch Insch & Loch Kelloch
65 places available
Entry: £45 per angler
Lunch provided, with tea & coffee
The competition will be based on the number of fish caught, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs:
1st Place — £300 + The Jim Mair Trophy Cup
2nd Place — £100
3rd Place — £50
This will be a bi-annual competition (June & October), bringing anglers together for a great day of fishing, friendly competition, and celebration of the fishery’s history.
Booking and payment are required in advance to secure your place. Bookings can be made when you visit us at the fishery, or payment can be made by bank transfer.
Important notice
To allow us to prepare the water and grounds, Loch Insch Fishery will close at 15:00 on Saturday 20th June 2026.
The fishery will also be closed to members of the public all day on Sunday 21st June 2026, as this will be a private event for Jim Mair Cup competitors and event marshals only.
We will also be looking for 13 marshals to help support the event on the day — more details to follow.
